Rocky Balboa on Broadway
One of my favorite movies Rocky was turned into a Broadway musical in February of 2014. The production was held at Winter Garden Theater in New York City. According to broadway.com the team that put this production together consisted of director Alex Timbers whose past projects include Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Peter and the Starcatcher, the original score from the duo Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens their works include Ragtime, Once on This Island, Anastasia, author Thomas Meehan who wrote The Producers, Hairspray, Annie. Of course Rocky would not be complete if Sylvester Stallone didn’t take part in the process.
The site also mentions that actor Drew Sarich starred as Stallone’s title role Rocky. This is a good opportunity for people who may not be in action/sports movies to experience a story combined excitement, romance and inspiration. If this musical production will anything like the blockbuster hits, I wouldn’t be surprised if the audience of the left wanting to pursue their most desired dream. To finish this post it is only right to leave my readers with my favorite quote from the 6th installment of the movie’s series and a YouTube video first look into the musical:
“The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” Stallone (ROCKY BALBOA).
